Our Latest Rescue Snowball
9/15/2009
This
little baby bunny was bought as a gift for someone from a street vendor
in Los Angeles. He was only about twelve days old.
Baby rabbits need to feed from their mother until they are about eight
weeks old. When they are taken away from their mother at an early age
they will die even if they are nibbling on hay and pellets. Luckily this
little guy made it to us so we could bottle feed and care for him until
he is old enough to eat on his own.
If you see street vendors or swap meets selling baby rabbits please do
not buy them, it just puts money in their pockets and helps them to
continue selling more baby rabbits. If no one bought them, they wouldn't
sell them.

electronics, DVD's, movies, holiday items, rabbit related items, toys,
trips, tickets to events etc. Items can be brought to the Burrow during
our open hours, or mailed to us in care of the Bunny Bunch Burrow,
4601-1 Brooks St, Montclair, CA 91708. Every items donated will help

Update on
Buddy
8/22/2009
Buddy the old
bun that we took in took a turn for the worse, so we had to have him put
to sleep last week. His story is on our site.
He greatly improved from when we took him in. He gained weight, was
able to move around even though he has arthritis and was blind, plus he
really enjoyed his daily treat of banana. He was very old and just
started to go down hill. When it came to the point that he had to be
syringe fed, on oxygen and started to lay on his side we decided it was
time to let him go so he wouldn't suffer.
I am so glad someone found him when he was dumped and brought him to
us. He had several happy weeks, he was living with other older buns who
groomed him and layed with him, he spent a lot of time on our couch with
us being cuddled and talked to, and was loved very much. Its strange how
things work out. A day or two after he was gone an older bun with
cataracts was brought into a city shelter. He is now safe with us, until
we can find him a home.

Meet Buddy our new Angel Bunny
7/14/2009
Yesterday a
little girl was walking home from school and found a rabbit, just
sitting there in the road all alone. The little girl told her Mum so
they went back to see if the rabbit was still there. He was in the same
spot. Not knowing what to do they brought the rabbit to the Burrow.
We are guessing he is about ten years old. He is blind in both eyes,
covered in fur mites, has urine scald, probably arthritis, and a
horribly infected eye. We named him Buddy.
He is being treated for all of his illnesses. He is now living in an
exercise pen with blankets so he can be comfortable and get around. He
has a litter box full of hay, which he jumped into right away and
started nibbling. He is enjoying fresh veggies and most of all lots of
TLC.
Once
we have him all sorted out we will be looking for a home for him. We
will be posting more pics of Buddy as he gets better, and will post when
he is available to go to a new home. Because of all your support to our
angel fund, and because of our wonderful volunteers, Buddy has a happy
ending.

bun was thrown out of a car by an apartment complex. Luckily the bun was
not hurt. A volunteer for a kitten rescue found the bun, but are unable

TV Needed at the Burrow
5/5/2009
We are in need
of a flat screen television for our classroom at the Burrow. We plan to
show educational DVD's about rabbit care. But we need your help to get a
TV.
We would love
to have one donated but have had no luck so far. If we can raise $800 we
could purchase one and start our education plan right away. Hundreds of
people visit us at the Burrow to learn about rabbits, guinea pigs and
chinchillas. We do have volunteers to teach people, plus handout care.
But, if we were able to have our educational DVD's showing at all times
people would learn much more.
You can make a donation towards our TV via Paypal and put TV
in the Paypal comments section, or send a check to The Bunny Bunch/TV,
P.O. Box 2583, Chino, CA 91708.
Every day
rabbits lose their homes because people do not know the right way to
care for them. Help us make a difference and show them how wonderful
rabbits can be living safely indoors.

lives, and to all the volunteers who care for them at the shelter and

A
local shelter has nine rabbits that we need to get out ASAP. The cost to
rescue the rabbits is $40.00 each. We have received a donation to rescue
three so far and have those buns in our care, but we still need to raise
$240.00 to get the rest out. Please let us know if you can help. Email
Caroline

Little Willy Update
4/2/2009
This
is Little Willy in his new home. As you can see he has all his hair back
and has grown into a beautiful rabbit. We were not able to find any
reason for him losing his hair as baby. He is now a happy healthy
rabbit, and grew to be the same size as his brothers. Thank you to
everyone who donated to help Little Willy. Because of our supporters we
have another happy ending. Read about when we rescued
little Willy.

Easter. Be sure to stock up before we run out. These make great gifts

A CHRISTMAS BUNNY
MIRACLE
3/24/09
Animals have been a major part of my life since I was five-years-old and
we got our first kitten. Currently my house is home to four cats, all
rescued, and two bunnies (adopted from Bunny Bunch about two years ago)
and they bring joy and laughter and plenty of loving every day of the
year. One night this past Christmas season I was lying in bed reading
and suddenly had the strongest urge to check the Bunny Bunch website. I
got out of bed and turned on the computer. There I found a pair of
bunnies in need of rescuing from a horrible shelter before they were
euthanized. I immediately called Bunny Bunch and was amazed when
Caroline herself answered the phone around 8:00. I expressed my desire
to help the bunnies in need. As it turned out, those bunnies had been
rescued but Caroline and the volunteers were trying to rescue another
bunny scheduled to be euthanized the next day. They needed $50. Money
was tight yet I promptly took out my credit card and donated that
amount. Caroline was so pleased she asked me if I wanted to name him, a
white bunny with pink ears, nose, and eyes. I was delighted and chose
the name Snowshoe. I went to sleep that night with joy at being able to
help rescue a bunny from certain death.
The
other part of the miracle arrived the next day when I received a
Christmas card from my sister who lives in Florida. Tucked into the card
was a Christmas check to spend on "whatever would make me happy." The
check was for exactly $50! I will always be a believer in the theory
that miracles often come at Christmastime. As I got into bed after I'd
made my donation, I felt that I had received a precious gift -- the
chance to save a bunny's life. Want to receive such a wonderful gift? Go
ahead and help a bunny! Sincerely, Mari Bailey
Beatrix the Bunny is
Safe
3/09/2009
Beatrix
was found wondering the streets of Los Angeles lost and alone. A very
nice lady found her and took her home which saved her life. It wouldn't
have been long before a predator, car or uncaring human would have got
to her.
The lady that
found her was unable to keep her so she needed to find her a safe home
or a rescue to take her. She had no luck finding a good home so she had
her spayed and brought her to a Bunny Bunch foster home. Upon doing a
health check our volunteer discovered that Beatrix's spay incision had
become badly infected and inflamed, in fact the incision was open - the
skin had healed, meaning another surgery had to be done in order for
this poor bun to survive.
Beatrix was
rush to emergency where the vet did surgery right away. We are happy to
report that she is now recovering nicely in her foster home and as soon
as she has healed and finished her meds she will be at the Burrow
waiting for her forever home.
You can
donate via Paypal to our Angel fund so we can continue to help
rabbits like Beatrix. Or, you can mail a check to The Bunny Bunch, PO
Box 2583, Chino, CA 91708, or stop by the Burrow, as we will have a
donation jar for Beatrix there.
Because of
people like you we are able to save hundreds of rabbits who otherwise
had no one that cared about them. Thank you!!!!
We are in Need of Paper
Towels at the Burrow
3/4/09
We are in
desperate need for paper towels for the Burrow. We are down to three
rolls after our deep cleaning today. If anyone can donate some please
let us know, or just bring them to Burrow. Thanks a bunny bunch!
Happy Burrow Bunnies in
Bunny Beds!
3/1/2009
For all our
you who joined in for our "Buy a Bunny a Bed Fundraiser", we thought you
would like to see how happy you made our bunnies.
Little Willy Update
2/18/2009
The
picture above shows just how small Little Willy is-the dollar bill is
bigger than he is! So far he is thriving. He is still much smaller than
this two brothers, but is eating and pooping like crazy! He has learnt
to keep warm by snuggling in between his brothers (shown above). He
wears a sock as a sweater, and has a constant source of heat from a
heating disk if he chooses to use it. We have not been able to find out
why he has no hair, or why he is so much smaller than his brothers. But
the good thing is he is active and growing. Stay tuned for more Little
Willy updates!
Temporary Care Needed
for Harvey & Penelope
2/12/2009
Two
bonded bunnies need your help - Harvey and Penelope. Back last December,
the bunnies were in their owner's car when it was stolen. The car &
bunnies were recovered, but during the ordeal, Harvey fractured his
spine (maybe when the thieves were holding him, he struggled...?). With
limited funds, we worked with Harvey and Penelope's owner to get
Harvey's bladder functioning again after his spinal injury and taught
the owner how to bathe him. He does walk some with his hind legs and is
doing great, but needs periodic butt baths. Penelope is overweight and
also gets a messy butt, so she also needs periodic cleaning. In January
of this year, when their owner got pneumonia and was hospitalized, she
snuck out of the hospital to bring the bunnies in to Dr. Domotor's to be
boarded, then she returned to the hospital.
As
you can see, she really cares about her bunnies. A few weeks ago, Harvey
and Penelope's owner was arrested on a minor charge. We are still
waiting to find out how long she will be in jail. So the bunnies have
been at the Pasadena Humane Society for the past few weeks, and we have
just now gotten permission to pull the bunnies from the shelter.
Can
you help temporarily? If so, please email
Kim, or call the Burrow at 909-626-3946. Thanks a bunny bunch.
Little Willy
1/30/2009
This
cute little guy came to us with his two baby brothers. As you can see he
has lost all his fur. We rescued him from a city shelter so we have no
history on him. So far he is doing well, but we need to do a full
medical work up to find out what is wrong. If you would like to help
Little Willy please send a donation towards his medical care.
You can donate now thru Paypal, or mail a
check to The Bunny Bunch,
4601-1 Brooks St, Montclair, CA 91708. Please let us know either way
that your donation is for Little Willy.
Help Baby
Snowy
1/6/2009
Baby Snowy
was found in someone's front yard with an injured back leg. Luckily the
person that found him had heard of the Bunny Bunch and brought him to us
right away. Unfortunately we discovered that the leg was broken. We took
him to our rabbit vet who did x-rays that showed his femur was broken in
eight places. The pieces of bone were too shattered to repair so we
decided it would be best for him to have his leg amputated.
He is now
recovering in our care. He is a tiny 2 pound white bun with lovely blue
eyes. He loves people, loves to be held and gets around just fine. We
will be getting him neutered next week, and after that he will be
available for adoption.
Please let us
know if you are interested in giving him a forever home by filling out
an adoption form. If you can't adopt but would like to help him please
donate to "The Baby Snowy Fund." His surgery was $600.
You can donate now thru Paypal, or mail a check to The Bunny
Bunch,
4601-1 Brooks St, Montclair, CA 91708. Please let us know either way
that your donation is for the Baby Snowy Fund.
Happy New Year
everyone! Because of your support Baby Snowy will have a happy ending.
