Need Foster Homes ASAP!
7/16/2010

UPDATE-These bunnies are now in a Bunny Bunch Foster Home.
Help!  We need a foster home for these poor buns that have been dropped off at a city shelters.  We are
full at the Burrow and don't have any open foster homes.  They will need to be fostered indoors for 21
days, then they will be able to come to the Burrow.  There are three ways you can help.  The first
would be to adopt, the second would be to foster, and the third would be to send a donation of $50 to
pay the fee to get one or both buns out of the shelter. Please let us know if there is any way you can
help by emailing Caroline or calling us at 909-591-7200. Thanks a Bunny Bunch!

New Angel Bunny at the Bunny Bunch Burrow
4/18/2010

Prince is one of the rabbits rescued from Long Beach City College.  As you can see he is quite ill.  He has a bad case of Syphilis.  After doing health checks on about 100 of the rabbits at the college we founds signs of Syphilis on about thirty percent of them, which means they all need to be treated for it.   Prince has a much worse case.  The good news is Prince is now at the Bunny Bunch Burrow being treated.  It won't be long before he will be back in good health and ready for adoption, when we will post a new picture of him.  Because of your donations to our Angel Fund we are able to continue to rescue sick and injured rabbits, like Prince.  Click here to make a donation, or you can send a check to The Bunny Bunch Angel Bunny Prince, P.O. Box 2583, Chino, CA 91708.

Long Beach Rabbit Rescue
3/26/2010

Bunny Bunch is at it again. For years we have wanted to help the hundreds of rabbits that have been dumped at the Long Beach City College. One thing or another always stood in the way, but this winter we were able to come up with a plan.

Because we are already overloaded with rabbits at the Burrow and in foster care we are not able to take on another few hundred. We rescue our rabbits from the high kill shelters and don't want to stop doing that, so we thought it would be best to spay and neuter all of the rabbits at the college and then release them back to living on the grounds at the college; at least that way the breeding would end.

Of course we do not suggest that rabbits live outside but thought this plan was better than none.

Over the last couple of months the Long Beach rabbits have been taken to our vets for spaying and neutering. This last week, rabbits were set up in a building on the campus so we could do health checks and get them ready for Western University’s visit to spay and neuter one hundred rabbits.

We are looking for more vets to work with us on low cost spay and neuter so we can finish all the rest of the rabbits, which we are guessing to be about 200.

People think that releasing their unwanted rabbit into a nice green field, golf course, park, or college is a nice way for a rabbit to live. Nothing could be further from the truth. These are domestic rabbits, not wild rabbits. It is illegal to abandon a rabbit at the college, or anywhere else for that matter. There is a $500 fine for anyone caught doing so.

Many of the rabbits are killed by predators, run over, or even poisoned. When a domestic rabbit is put into a group of rabbits living outside they will not accept him and will fight for territory which results in bite wounds, torn ears, and other injuries. There is often disease running within groups of rabbits living outside. We have found that at least thirty percent of the rabbits show signs of syphilis. Many have fleas and mites too.

We are treating the sick rabbits for all of the above. When we have caught all of the rabbits, they will be spayed or neutered and healthy before they are released.

We are also looking for people to adopt these rabbits. If you are interested please fill out an adoption questionnaire, or email caroline@bunnybunch.org. Ideally we would like to get them all into homes if possible. We will have some of these rabbits for adoption at the Orange County Pet Expo in April, plus will be holding adoption events in Long Beach after Easter.

Thank you to Long Beach City College for providing funding for spaying and neutering, and allowing us to come up with a plan to take care of all the rabbits. Also, for letting us use a building to house the rabbits during this program. Thank you to Best Friends for providing temporary crates for the rabbits and sending supplies. Thank you to Western University for offering low cost spay/neuter for 80 rabbits and caring for them after the surgery and to the staff who donated their time. Thank you to the local rabbit vets for proving low cost spay and neuter. And a big thank you to Donna and Jackie who work at LBCC for being there for the rabbits over the years and through this rescue.

We have set up a fund to help with medical costs for the sick and injured rabbits. Click here to make a donation, or you can send a check to The Bunny Bunch LBBC Rescue, P.O. Box 2583, Chino, CA 91708.

If you are interested in volunteering with this project please email caroline@bunnybunch.org

Angel Bun Needs Your Help
3/6/2010

We got a call from a vets office yesterday about a rabbit that was ran over by a car. The rabbits leg was broken and the owners couldn't afford the bill and didn't want to care for the rabbit. The rabbit is on the way to Bunny Bunch. We need to raise $400 to have her leg spayed. We don't even know her name yet. She is an older brown lop. If you can help send any amount towards helping her please let us know.

As soon as we can we will post a pic of her on our site. You can donate via Paypal or mail a check to The Burrow,
4601-1 Brooks St, Montclair, CA 91763. Thanks a Bunny Bunch!

Can You Help Valentine?
2/24/2010

Valentine is a dear little boy who is full of life and love despite his disability. Unfortunately, Valentine fractured his back and his former owner took him to a vet and left him there. Thank goodness, Bunny Bunch was called and was able to take him in. We are currently looking into acupuncture treatments and possibly chiropractor treatments from skilled animal acupuncturists and chiropractors if we think it can help but we will need to raise the money for the treatments because they can be costly and visits need to be often. Any amount of support given will be greatly appreciated. We hope to see Valentine hopping like a normal, healthy bunny one day soon. With your help, that just might be possible. You can donate via Paypal or mail a check to The Burrow, 4601-1 Brooks St, Montclair, CA 91763. Thanks a Bunny Bunch!
